The staff recommended is less than that for the Department of Medicine, as in the teaching of Surgery much operative work is done and Government at present supplies some operative surgeons. This is an additional ar gument supporting the contention that Government should continue to staff the hospital and make all public beds available for teaching purposes.

It is recommended that the following additional posts be instituted, and appointments made by the dates shown:-

23. DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY

There is need for the appointment of a liaison officer on demonstrator scale be tween the Departments of Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This officer would devote his whole time to Obstetrical and Gynaecological Pathology.

The appointment of an additional Scnior Lecturer is recommended to cope with the increased numbers of students, and the numbers of clinics in which teaching is done.

It is recommended that the following addi tion al posts be instituted and appointments made by the dates shown:-

The present staff is adequate for teaching commitments but the Department intends to undertake certain routine investigations for other departments which will require the services of another Technician Grade III.

It is recommended that the following additional post be instituted and appointment made as soon as possible:-

25. DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

Bacteriology will require the services of a Senior Lecturer or Reader by 1953.

A Lecturer in Parasitology. and Entomology would only be required if the D.T.M. & H. Course is revived. It is considered that this might be done by 1953.

The present technical staff has been found inadequate.

It is recommended that the following additional posts be instituted and appointments made by the dates shown:
